The Challenge for Meesho’s Website Enhancement Case Study

The Meesho app currently overwhelms users with four separate links to download the mobile application, which violates Hick’s Law by increasing cognitive load and decision-making time, potentially leading to a cluttered and less user-friendly experience. Additionally, the absence of a checkbox feature for selecting specific items before adding them to the cart creates frustration for users who prefer more control over their purchases. This lack of flexibility forces users to either add unwanted items to their cart or spend extra time removing them, ultimately diminishing the overall efficiency and satisfaction of the shopping experience. Addressing these issues is crucial for enhancing usability and maintaining user engagement on the platform.

Solution

To address the issues identified in the Meesho app, the following design changes are recommended:

  1. Reduce App Download Links:
  2. Introduce Checkbox Selection for Items:

By implementing these solutions, Meesho can significantly improve the overall user experience, making the app more intuitive, less overwhelming, and more aligned with user needs.

Problem’s Listed Down

if you are having trouble reading, I am writing down my pain points with the Number conventions

  1. While I appreciate Meesho's efforts to encourage the use of their mobile app, I find the multiple reminders to download the app on the website to be excessive and intrusive. As someone who prefers using the website over the app, I feel that having more than two reminders to download the app is not just unnecessary, but also a bit rude. It's as if the website experience is being devalued in.
  2. Repetative Information.
  3. Could have a wishlist Feature.. in these ranks.
  4. Since, the Catagories are mentioned above in the ribbon part too, We are better off with Displaying the actual images of the products, that are in high demand, or are previously searched by the user.
  5. Interesting ad’s but when they are next to each other user might skip both, to look something else.
  6. The Button looks, a bit messed up too.
  7. No use for, so many filters to choose from, Keeping it simple Is the charm

Since there's no checkbox to select specific items for purchase, it becomes inconvenient, especially for users who don’t want everything added to the cart.
